From Pouancé we went to Saint-Aubin du Cormier which turned out to be a really beautiful spot to overnight next to the village etang. It’s not an official aire there, but it is a legitimate place to park up for the night, and the gendarmes arriving in the evening, circling once and driving off, confirmed to us they didn’t have a problem us stopping there.
We were as good as on our own, bar an elderly couple who pulled up with their towing caravan, clearly en-route to or from their campsite destination. They understandably didn’t bother unhitchimg for the one night stop.
We have called in at this village before and had a walk around, but not realised it was fine to overnight there.
We walked around on this visit too, ate our supper on board, took some piccies of the wonderful sunset illuminated sky over the village, and had a good sleep. We woke to mist which made for some lovely photos too as it was clearing in the morning sunshine.
This place proved a lovely stop and we’ll certainly use it again if we’re in the area.
