Despite the ridiculously strong and loud wind, we managed to sleep, and in the morning, after coffee, decided to pop across to another Park4night to overlook Sagres’ popular surfing beach. After lunch we then started our next new adventure and that was to explore Portugal’s West coast.
After a Lidl top-up we began to enjoy the simple roads and countryside of this wonderfully underdeveloped part of the country. Very soon we were at my chosen Park4night at the Praia da Bordeira at Carrapateira (Estrada da Praia). The reviews looked great and the place surpasses those reviews. We parked overlooking the lagoon, with miniature Sahara-like dunes on the beach beyond, and the massive restless surf beyond.
We walked along the road that takes you to the headland where you can watch the very large waves crashing against the rocks and flying into the air. I then brought Sophie back the “boy’s route”, an official path, but too rough for her taste. We’re now enjoying the wonderful views from the comfort of our lounge on wheels.
