After another morning, which we took advantage of to get some jobs done, we were back on the road after a simple lunch.
First on the agenda was a quick visit near to Aljezur, where some Jersey friends visit regularly, and after that we thought we’d enjoy more of a drive than the previous day. I’d seen that an Intermarché at Odemira had motorhome facilities, so we emptied the cassette there, and topped up with their best value diesel.
After this we headed for the coast to find a place for the night. The wind was still pretty wild, so some of my cliff-top ideas had to be shelved. We did find a great place opposite Vila Nova de Milfontes, but after Sophie began cooking I doubled-checked and realised that overnighting wasn’t permitted.
Anyway, I try and keep some reserve places up my sleeve, and 25 minutes later we were at Porto Covo. We drove past the €3 fenced in muddy motorhome “ghetto“, which we’d have turned our noses up even if free and carried on until we found a Park4night in front of the town. Conscious of the high winds blowing straight in, Sophie persuaded me to part tuck-in behind a graffiti-ridden ex-toilet block. As it happened, her view wasn’t hindered at all, unlike mine. Funny that.
Actually, the view was still great, and after a while a few other neighbours joined us pioneers.
