Last night we stayed at the canal side free aire in Mehun-sur-Yèvre. We thought we had a neighbour, but it turned out, come morning, it was just an empty camper parked up.
We slept well, bar again, despite the heater on low, feeling a bit chilly come the morning (well I did! – perhaps more a girly issue!). To be fair to our van, I feel cold in my bedroom at home in this cold weather, but my whistling radiator (presumably needing bleeding!) can’t help!
Once we were up we headed out to see what sights there were to see, which, in this town, was a rather spectacular castle ruin (shame of course it was ruined, but there we are!). Ruins provide their own visual drama but one can’t but help but wonder about their demise! They certainly absolutely fascinate me.
We walked around the ruins set in parkland and then walked back to the van along the sleepy streets, wondering where everyone was, and noticing the numerous businesses no longer in business! Not an uncommon problem of course!
Headed off around lunchtime calling in at a Lidl soon into our departure which was handy for picking up a seeded baguette for lunch!
Good pictures, I agree looks like this place is deserted.
Maybe they heard we were coming!!!
