The sun returned to the sky the next day and in the end we probably had around 5 neighbours when it came to our second overnight at the Praia do Ancão Park4night. Two nights in a row is a rarity for us, but it was a peaceful spot, with the constant sound of the waves pounding the beautiful beach, and it gave us chance to make a dent in our blogging backlog.
When we eventually were on our way again, we drove through the millionaires’ playground of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo and then had a services stop and Lidl top-up.
Next stop was the beach at Quarteira, where we parked next to a monster motorhome, more than twice our length and towering over us. After a quick homemade ham roll, we took a stroll along Quarteira’s prom. Perfectly pleasant, and nice and clean but there’s only so much of that sort of generic developed seafront with its multiple blocks of apartments that we want to look at.
The rest of our journey saw non-stop apartments in all shapes and sizes, and we did find ourselves longing for nature again. The beach at Falesia was really interesting with its orange cliffs, and then we did a drive-through of Albufeira.
After this we headed for a Park4night at Praia do Castelo. After a quick recce of the adjacent picturesque cliffs, we retired to the van in the rain and were the only overnighters. We were parked on a slight downslope, which doesn’t concern us, and were able to back the overhang over the verge. As for our previous two nights, the pounding waves were our constant companions.
